Congratulations to Bethel under 11’s who were victorious in the Penrhyndeudraeth tournament on Sunday 9th June 2013.

In lovely sunshine the team won every one of their games in their group before overcoming Barmouth on penalties in the semi-final and Bro Enlli 2-0 in the final with Owain scoring the goals. Every one of the squad contributed to the success and I’d like to thank the coaches and the families who came to support the team.

North Wales Coast FA Cup Rownd 1
Bethel B 7 Presatyn Athletic B 2

Scorers: Iwan (2), Aaron, Dion, Gethin Bryn, Justin, Siôn

It was great that the game could go ahead considering the amount of rain we'd had recently, although the pitch was heavy and slippery. Bethel started well and controlled possession but the Prestatyn strikers were very quick and Bethe's defence had to be alert. The first goal came after 10 minutes when Prestatyn failed to clear and when the ball came back into the box Shaun controlled the ball well before releasing Aaron to score. Prestatyn then created a few chances but the Bethel defence remained resolute, and when Prestatyn managed to skip past the defence Lee came to the rescue. Bethel's second came following a corner and several attempts at goal from Bethel before the ball fell to Dion to net. Just the first half time whistle Lee produced a great save to ensure the score remained at 2-0.

Bethel started the second half strongly and went further ahead as Gethin Bryn received a pass from Justin and hit an unstoppable shot giving the keeper no chance. Following the goal came a period of dominance from Prestatyn as they scored from a magnificent free-kick and then scored a second, but full credit to Bethel who responded immediately with Iwan scoring from a pass by Shaun. Prestatyn continued to exert pressure and had two attempts cleared off Bethel's line. Finally, Bethel managed to break clear with Ben creating a chance for Justin to score. Prestatyn's heads dropped and a goal soon followed with Sam played a pass for Iwan to run onto and his cross was helped on by Gethin Bryn for Siôn to score. The 7th was created by a great pass from Ben for Iwan to run onto to score. A great performance although perhaps the score wasn't a fair reflection on Prestayn's good play.

An exceptional performance from every player on the Bethel side, but man of the match for an inspirational second half performance was Iwan.

Saturday 13 October 2012
City Pumas 2 - Bethel B 5

Scorers: Aaron, Shaun (2), Dion, Justin

We were faced by a very wet morning, but the pitch was in good condition considering how much rain we'd had. Bethel had the best start possible with Shaun creating a chance for Aaron to score from the first move of the match. The Pumas came back strongly and their speed created problems for Bethel's defence. From one of those chances, the Pumas striker raced clear before going round Lee to score. 1-1. Bethel continued to try to play football and went ahead following a great move with Ben releasing Gethin Bryn on the right who produced a magnificent cross for Shaun to head home. 2-1 HT.

Bethel started the 2nd half strongly with Dion scoring following good play from Aaron. Mid way through the second half, Justin scored his first competitive goal for Bethel from a move started by Gethin Parry who released Gethin Bryn who found Justin to run into the box to score. After that the Pumas had a period of pressure where they scored their second and despite having several good chances the Bethel defence kept them out, with Lee making several good saves. Bethel's 5th came following pressure from Ciron on a Pumas midfield player that led to a mistake that allowed Aaron to win a ball and pass to Shaun who unleashed a magnificent effort from distance to score.

There were several notable performances, particularly amongst the defence, but man of the match for his 2 goals and 2 assists was Shaun Owen.

Saturday 6 October 2012
Bethel B 4 - Bontnewydd B1

Scorers: Shaun (2), Aaron, Gethin Bryn

Bethel faced a big challenge in their first competitive game of the season. There was little to choose between the teams during the first half with a completive encounter ensuring that the chances were few and far between, with both goal keepers making good saves. 0-0 HT.

Bethel started the second half on fire with Shaun scoring Bethel's first of the season from a pass from Iwan in a move started by Gethin Parry. Soon afterwards quick thinking by Gethin Bryn from a throw in found Shaun who unleashed a terrific strike from distance to score his and Bethel's second. Bont came back strongly to make it 2-1, before another long distance strike from Gethin Bryn set up by Siôn before Aaron netted following a strong run from Justin to seal the win.

Man of the match for his excellent performance in the centre of midfield was Ben.
